I was excited when Barbara Bergsten asked on her blog, "Where do you Stitch?" I just so happen to be a very lucky lady when it comes to stitching stations. Well at least in my mind. Recognizing that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I fully understand that having places to stitch all over my home may not be every one's idea of heaven, but I am thrilled to be able to stitch here and there and the orts prove it!
Let's start with my stash closet located in the upstairs guest bedroom. The walkin is fairly large as I have a triple dresser centered on the back wall which houses my upcoming projects, notions,
paperwork. Hanging are project bags and painted canvases, on the dresser, my blank canvas, down below are my stitch books and some of the bulky frames and stands.
On the right side of the closet are my thread drawers and copies of my stitching magazine subscriptions.Yes, that's an office chair in there. It was my husband's cast off but it works perfect allowing me to play in my closet while seated. I don't stitch in there and when company comes to stay (like now, my Godmother is visiting through Mother's Day), I move the chair back into my husbands home office.
My favorite stitching zone is in my bedroom under a window shown in the top photo. My next favorite place is at the dining room table where I can use either a frame weight or a clamp (I use a table pad to protect the surface)). My Ott floor lamp

plugs in near my chair. This is where I am stitching the pilot project although while I have company, I won't get much done. Last but not least is our downstairs where I love to stitch, there's lots of natural light, but oddly enough I don't stitch down there too often. When I have stitch group here, we typically will stitch down here.
You might know that the silhouette you see in the background is TBear. I love the Dazor lamp but it's too heavy to move around or up and down the stairs, so it stays down stairs. So there you have it, my stitching places, where you can find me most of the time. Thanks Barbara for posing the question. I can't wait to see other's thrones too!

Hi Madonna,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pictures and the description of where you stitch! You have lot's of great storage and some wonderful stitching places. :-)
What a wonderful idea for a blog entry, to share where we stitch. Hmmmm... have to clean up before I take pictures! LOL!

Wow! I love the closet idea as you can shut it off from all the rest. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWow - lucky you having all that space for your stitching and stash! I have to fit my stitching and all my stash around everything else in our house. My main stitching spot is an armchair in the living room, but when I have visitors, I just have to fit in wherever there's space for me!
ReplyDeleteI love having the office chair in front of the stash. My method is to sit on the floor with drawers and baskets around.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea better!
Keep Stitching,
Janet
Hi Cyn,
ReplyDeleteI love to see where people are stitching too. Naturally since I have company this week, all my spaces are straightened up. Normally and on any other given day, things are pretty much strewn from stem to stern. I am an empty nester and my husband is away much of the time so I have a lot more time than the average bear to pursuit my interests; especially when I'm not having to stop and make meals, beds and all the other stitching interrupting nuisances! LOL!Thanks for writing.
LOL Janet, I know the chair idea was a stroke of genius. On wheels and everything including a pair of socks stretched over the arms that were worn out!:) Waste knot, want knot. Sorry, I couldn't resist! Thanks for writing.
ReplyDeleteHi Pat,
ReplyDeleteHaving everything behind closed doors is more of a necessity than anything else, especially when I don't put things away and it begins to look like a goat exploded in there. When it comes time to downsize our household, I don't how I'll handle not having the extra space, but rest assured, even if the [read husband's] clothing has to go, I'll have a stash closet. Thanks for dropping by today.
Hi Lesley, the extra stitching space is good, but remember when I have company, other than stitchers that is, I have to pick everything up and store it away. And then drag it out again. I'm happy though and very grateful to be able to indulge in this passion and enjoy the support of my family in my pursuits. Without which things wouldn't be the same. I had a stitching dry spell for about 7 years, can't believe that, and ever since I've rejoined the wonderful world of needlework, I intend to do everything I can to make it the most positive experience possible.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog today, I enjoy yours very much and look forward to each new entry.
Madonna
Love your stitching spaces! Hmmm, maybe I'll have to photograph mine & post it. Great idea!
