Decided to continue using Father B's Oriental stitches. This time I used the Shanghai Stitch for the kitty kimono on the right. The body of the kimono is stitched in Amy's Burmilana, 2 strands; an overdyed silk, 4 strands, to outline the flowers; for the kimono edges I wanted something fairly shiny so I used J.L Walsh Silk and Wool; the cumber bun was padded and stitched in Frosty Rays .

Started stitching on the background, using 1 strand of yellow Burmilana with Father B's background stitch should make this go fairly quickly. I have a little clean up to do, missed a stitch here and there (nothing like the camera to show that) but I wanted to get a picture posted. This canvas continues to be a lot of fun to stitch and, therefore, is keeping me from working on my other projects. Thanks so much for visiting today, hope you're stitching something you love!
I'm finding these ladies great fun. Now that you'd done some stitching on Interlock canvas, what do you think? Would you buy another piece on interlock?
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane, I would like to comment on using the interlock.
ReplyDeleteFirst let me say that I definitely do notice a difference between interlock canvas and mono. I am speaking beyond the obvious traits of one having movable threads and one does not.
Yes, the interlock is much less pliable and a lot stiffer which translates into being harder on the threads, no matter what type you use. In addition you are more likely to break a canvas thread with interlock too.
Would I buy interlock again? Perhaps, but only under the same circumstances that I purchased this one: an irresistable design and much less costly. I will try to avoid buying interlock again unless the design is not available on mono. I also find myself being very careful when tightening up the Evertites with interlock because I was afraid I might split the canvas, it's that brittle. Just my opinion and my experience.
This is great to watch, and nice stitching! I was wondering about that interlock myself!
ReplyDeleteWhatever the difficulty with the canvas, I love the design and what you're doing with it. Cute, cute (feline) girls!
ReplyDeleteHi Madonna,
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying watching how you are stitching the girls!
I've stitched on interlock many years ago when our options were limited. Never again!
I do understand the difficulties with stitching on interlock and am enjoying seeing how you overcome them with this design. It is very cute!
