Chinese Lanterns revisited

I'm revisiting Chinese Lanterns today because I just discovered that for some reason my original posting is no longer carrying the photographs. Very odd indeed. This is one of my favorite projects to stitch and since I haven't been stitching lately and wanted to post something today, I chose this.

Stitched entirely with DMC Perle Coton and only one type of stitch, Gobelin it is amazing that something like this could be achieved without fancy threads and complicated stitches.

The chart came from Classic Stitches magazine, (which much to my disappointment is no longer being published), and was stitched over the course of 1 week.  Total cost of materials, $10.00.
Thank you for bearing with me until I get back to my regular stitching projects. I'm not in a slump or anything like that, I've been busy and have set my needlework aside temporarily. If anyone out there in blogland has any clue as to why my photographs are no longer on the original post, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for visiting today, be back soon.

  1. That is a lovely project and I can understand why you like it so much, very appropriate for today's post too as it makes you feel like it is springtime.

What issue of the magazine was this? I only have a few of them, so chances are that it won't be in any of them, but I do love it too. The design, stitches used, colors are very appealing.

    Happy Easter to you :-)

  3. I did one whole piece in Mosaic Stitch once. I was very pleased with the way it turned out. It is interesting what you can do with one stitch!

  4. Thank you ladies, I'm glad you like this design.

Margaret, I can imagine a whole piece in Mosaic resulted in a beautiful and unique look. I love the idea of getting the look of multiple stitches when only using a single stitch, it amazes me.

Anyone else out there have a canvaswork project done with just one stitch? (besides tent, that is)

Joyce, I have sent information via email.

Thanks again for visiting and commenting today, it surely made me happy I reposted this project.
